Born in 1981 in Medan, Sumatra, Indonesia, TT Kong (the founder) is a third-generation Chinese descendant. At 17, despite excellent academic performance, he gave up his studies to help his father run a motorcycle parts business. With his talent and hard work, he rapidly expanded the business across Southeast Asia, generating over $100 million in revenue for his family and becoming the region’s leading wealthy entrepreneur, managing nearly $500 million at a young age.
The 2007 financial crisis caused a significant loss in the family’s assets. TT Kong decided to leave Indonesia and pursue further studies in the United States. There, he unexpectedly encountered early blockchain evangelists and recognized the promising future of this new technology. In 2011, he invested $2 million to buy Bitcoin in full. In 2013, 2016, and 2018, he established Bitcoin mining farms in North America, Canada, Russia, Paraguay, and Ethiopia, and founded several investment funds focused on digital currency development. By the Bitcoin bull market of 2021, Zhang Jingguang’s managed assets reached as high as $120 billion.
